I do want to include something like this but I'm not sure what the best format is. I can easily add another forum section, but we also need some kind of file-upload system and I'm not sure how advanced this needs to be -- do we want a library area for user contributed patches?
Good question. I would just be hosting files on my own web space, so it depends on what others require. A patch/file area might be good, or maybe just the ability to attach files to a message.
I guess ideally I would like people to contribute their patches to a library here -- people's websites come and go and you end up with broken links and useful resources lost. I understand that some people might not want to have their patches archived here, but it would be nice if they could have the option.

There is nothing more disappointing that finding an interesting patch going to download it and finding a broken link
A library is a good idea, but then, won't we still need a forum to discuss patches? Even one in which "how do I do this?" questions get answered?
Or is that what "Support, help and ideas" is generally intended as?
"Support, help and ideas" is supposed to be for "how do i do this?" type questions. perhaps it needs a better name...
For the file downloads we could have a comment thread on the page with the download.
