Nice looking interface. Aside from that I'm not sure how this is different/better than Bidule.
If ruling the world was my goal I would be making something quite different to AudioMulch. I definitely don't want to waste my time implementing functionality that is already available with other apps.
Bidule? I dont see that at all. As far as i can tell it comes with no "contraptions". Its nothing but a blank slate to load VST/i's into, as a VST!
Its basically AudioMulch as VST. minus contraptions (Its gonna need mixers and busses)
You know Im a fan, and Im gonna support you anyway, but I thought this might just help twist your arm for VST functionality. Get the jump while you can. These guys are still in a low Beta.
peace.
Ruling the World would be a pain in the arse anyway ;)
Interesting that you see AudioMulch as closer to a "blank slate to load VST/i's into" than Bidule... I always thought Bidule does VSTi hosting very well. It is also already is available as a VST and with Rewire, and it has a patcher interface.
Perhaps you meant something else.. I just think Bidule already covers that space. If I did make AudioMulch a VST or with Rewire (both not looking so likely right now after my research) it would be to make AM contraptions available in other environments -- in fact I've seriously considered doing what Ableton does and not supporting plugin-ins inside AM when it's used as a plug-in or with Rewire. But you seem to be saying that hosting other plugins inside AM is a must-have for using it in 3rd party hosts?
I see hosting VSTs and AUs is an important way to extend AM's core functionality, and I will continue to improve plug-in support in AM. But AM is not first-and-foremost a plugin host. I can see why you might think it is if you think the internal contraptions are lacking in some areas.. improving and adding to the range of built in contraptions is very much in the game plan.
Ross.
My experience with Bidule is limited. I found it to be not so upfront and ready to go as Mulch. And i was referring to VSTForx as being a blank slate in which to load VSTs.
A blank slate for VSTs is very much the way i use Mulch. Apart from Mixers, Busses, Granulizer, Risset Filters, Drums and The Mighty Metasurface!!!!! i dont really use alot of the contraptions and rely on AM to throw in all my junk and make connections and feedback paths that would be next to impossible elsewhere, particularly in a DAW. I guess thats why im so keen on VST functionality. The environment youve created is just awesome. So simple and immediate.
To cripple third parties from Mulch if/when VST/ReWire is online would be devastating. Please, dont.
But, do as thou wilt shall be the whole of the law....
All the best.
