Looking for suggestions on an external software sequencer, something focused mainly on the sequencer aspect. Want to be able to write patterns and sync with AM. I'm not a strong keyboard player, so the ability to program patterns, trigger via sync from AM. Is this possible?

or could I use hardware like the MFB Step 64 http://www.analoguehaven.com/mfb/step64/
and use MIDI Yoke synced with AM? Seems more logical.

Energy XT plugin inside AM is a common choice. People seem to prefer version 1.4 to the latest.

With hardware you wouldn't need MIDI yoke -- you just use a normal MIDI interface.

Forget to mention I'm back on Mac, so Phrazor is Windows/VST, but exactly what I'm after. I will check with the Mac audio boards, see if something similar. Also, Sonicbytes site is down, maybe done. On my comment with hardware sequencer, I would need a way to talk to the soft synths. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I talked to ross bencina about that matter a few months ago, he said its not the strength of AM and it probably wont be improved.
For that I use Fruity Loops, very easy to use then export and import. If you can live with the export and import thing, its a very easy solution, you dont even have to spend money.
