I know it's highly unlikely, and if I was using a Mac I'd be running Numerology within Mulch as a plugin, but...
Please, please, please could we have a MIDI note out on the Bassline contraption for sequencing other soft synths? And if possible, also be able to send that out of a physical MIDI output, to sequence external synths too?
bump, still dying for midi out on the bassline, any chance ross, pretty please?
did a search on here and it's been asked for quite a few times, by different people.
some soft drum machines end midi note out.. also reaktor works well.. i've sequenced in mulch w/reaktor.. works like a charm. not sure if you have any of those..
numerology does work like a charm in muclh though.
thanks ignatius! unfortunatley don't own reaktor. still hoping for it on the bassline!
reaktor is really handy for a lot of things. there are some nice sequencers in it and some are not too hard to modify. plus.. it's pretty cheap used these days.. ever since NI had that sale earlier this year and offered it for $100 or something.. so, on KVR it shows up for dirt cheap now and then..
but yeah.. i'd love a note out on the bass line contraption too.. i think it'd be more stable than a 3rd party solution and easier to deal with multiples of it in a patch.. but the way it looks now it'll likely be a long time waiting for that feature.. or any new features really.. i think supporting the stream of OS X updates that apple throws at developers is taxing and slows development of new features and forces focus on compatibility and stupid changes they make.
anyway, before i had any midi sequencers in mulch i used to just automate the hell out of things to get the changes i wanted. painful to do sometimes but the results cna be pretty interesting. PS Numerology 4 Pro beta came out yesterday ;)
i would absolutely HATE to think that PC development of AM had been very much slowed down due to porting to Mac, but am afraid that's probably the case.
Can't run Numerology as Mac only, otherwise would have been all over it like a rash years ago.
pretty sure every developer who does both platforms has to work slower or hire more help etc to deal wtih OS X shenanigans.. and those plug in developers who do AU and VST are running through all kinds of gauntlets daily it seems.
yeah.. it hink we talked once about you being windows.. is why i mentioned reaktor as it makes a for lot's of handy audio/midi tools to throw into mulch. when mulch went OS X i dropped windows like hot rock.
sandboxing will do us all in though i'm afraid so perhaps i'll be back on windows or running bitwig and renoise on a linux box at some point ;)
thanks for all the cool suggestions, ignatius.
so you can use reaktor as a plugin inside mulch, and it has good midi sequencers? never used reaktor. if it's cheap to buy an old version might well check it out!
i'm sticking with windows as have so much experience with it, actually love it! win 7 on SSD drive is the best i've ever used. daily use for last 2 1/2 years and not crashed once.
but yeah, would still love MIDI out on the bassline (and maybe the arpeggiator too?)
nice to know about win7. my next mac will likely be a dual boot (win/OS X) hackintosh.. but not for a long time hopefully.
yeah.. reaktor has some good midi sequencers and in the library and more in the user library. some are a little clunky but many work really well and are sort streamlined. there's also some ensembles sold by users that are more for certain functions like sequencing monosynths and stuff.
if you hang out at kvr now and then reaktor comes up used for dirt cheap. like $100 or less sometimes. midi out on the arp/bassline is probably the most stable CPU efficient solution though.
this track i did in mulch using reaktor as a sequencer for camel audio alchemy. multitracked and dumped the audio in logic for mixing.

Thanks man. Yeah am someimes on KVR, so will hunt for the for sale section. Few plugs I never use so should porbably try and sell a few too!
Listening now and followed on Bandcamp, sounding great!
Loomer is (supposedly) close to releasing a cross-platform (Mac, Windows, Linux) super-sequencer plugin that may or may not be called Epoch.
Colin (Loomer developer) refers to it as a cross between Sugar Bytes' Thesys and Reaktor, sounds like it will be fully modular (every bit can modulate every other) and scriptable through Lua. I really like the Loomer demos I've tried, he definitely takes unique approaches and has very usable designs, plus I want to support developers who do Linux. I bought a MacBookPro because it was the only laptop I was certain would work for low-latency audio without going custom, but I really find OSX design decisions and usability a step back from Windows and Linux in many respects.
Some form of basic MIDI sequencing in AM would be fantastic. Bassline would be my preference. I've been looking for a free OSX plugin that can do that, but haven't found anything so far. Oh, did I mention that I'm a cheap bastard? (Or is that a starving philosopher/artist?) Well, not so cheap that I didn't buy AM, of couse!
Agreed, any kind of simple MIDI triggering natively within AM would be very nice, Bassline being the best option.
Hello all,
I use audiomulch for only two months, I'm a novice but I really enjoy it. I remember I tried it ten years ago but I guess I needed to go through a lot of hardware synths (live) adventures before landing in the audiomulch world. Now it's like a 100% fresh tool for me and it gives very special ideas, especially with all these crazy automations and metasurface.
About MIDI, I trigger a hardware Jomox bass synth (and also fab filter vst synth) from audiomulch, on PC, by using Sugarbytes Thesys as step midi sequencer. It's a good one but the interface is a bit too small for the diferent parameters in the grid. It's not dots in a board but vertical bars on a line...
I've tried also Era2 of sonicbytes but strangely, in the parameter controls, none of the midi parameters were visible (anyone got this problem like me?). In Thesys, you have a large part of the midi parameters accessible and you can also use the native midi learn fonction of the soft to assign it to your external midi device. In my case, TouchOSC on android.
Extra (maybe naive) question, is this possible to create new midi parameters controls into the non-AM Vst's?
That's true, a step midi sequencer directly implmented in AM would be great but I've read in other posts that it was not the primary goal of AM and that particular point won't be develop in the future.

Renoise is beta testing a sampler/tracker that will work as a VSTi :)
it will not be a full renoise plug in but a stripped down version focused on the sampler part of renoise so it'll have quite extensive audio manipulation abilities.. not sure how it'll be as a midi sequencer for other objects though...
it's called Redux and here's a link to the thread on renoise forum
http://forum.renoise.com/index.php?/topic/39417-%E2%96%BA-renoise-3-beta...
"We've been working on more than just Renoise in the past months and are happy to announce (but not yet release) Redux.
Redux will be an instrument plugin (VST on Windows, OSX and Linux - Audio Unit on OSX - all in 32 and 64 bit flavors), which brings the sample-mangling and pattern hacking capabilities of Renoise to any DAW which is capable of hosting VST or AU plugins. Redux is NOT intended to be Renoise as a plugin – we have ReWire for that – but it has been developed based on Renoises's new sampler and phrases to be an instrument. Redux has its own identity, and is more like Renoise's little brother.
This means that, without resorting to tricks like Rewire, the sample-mangling capabilities of Renoise will soon be available to any DAW, too. We hope this is useful for everyone to try out the Renoise tracking workflow without leaving your favorite DAW, or for Renoise users to bring your Renoise way of composing into other DAWs. Any instruments created in Renoise will be fully compatible with Redux, and vice versa.
Although Redux's core functionality is more or less complete, we want to give it more time for fine-tuning, and give it some more attention before we release it. Renoise 3, on the other hand, is already ready for beta testing, so we decided to concentrate on the Renoise 3 release first, then we'll start testing Redux at a later date."
Thanks for the heads up, Ignatius!
