Hello,
I have zero experience in using prerecorded samples and automation in Audiomulch so I would like to ask you for some help.
This is what I'd like to do:
I would like to have a long automation line ( like the lenght of my gig) which could make some samples play at certain timings.
Grafically it would be like this ( "_" is for silence):
start_______________________________sample A repeated 4 times_____________sample B repeated 8 times_______________________________sample C repeated 3 times______________stop
Thank you very much for your help !
In AM, samples (by which I assume you mean loops) in a Loop Player play continuously, over and over, their full length each time. I don't think you can trigger a loop to start at a given moment. When the patch is initially set into motion, all loops start to play.
However, you could set up a loop to play through, say, a Mixer channel whose Mute button was toggled by automation. At the right moment, the sound would be unmuted, left to play for however many repeats you want, and then shut off again. You'd just have to make sure you had the Mute go off (ie. sound come on) at a moment that was at the beginning of your loop; you'd have to count bars, etc.
Thank you,
is there another solution to be able to give a more precise timing ?
If I use another contraption like for example a fileplayer, would I be able to assign a precise beginning of the playing ?
I can prepare a file made by the loops I need.
thank you again !
I think I was wrong. I just looked at the Help page about FilePlayer contraption and see that its file can be activated at a given moment through an automation trigger. It can loop a file, too. However, unlike LoopPlayer, FilePlayer does not sync up with the clock.
Also, LoopPlayer has its own mute button; you wouldn't need to add a Mixer as I wrote before.
Yes I would do this with one or more File Players. I would just automate the retriggering of the soundfiles for the repeats. So set the FilePlayer Loop: OFF, AutoRewind: ON, then automate the Active property to start and stop it as needed. You could probably also do it with Loop ON.
thank you all,
I can go now !
It will be part aof my partecipations to Flussi: http://www.flussi.eu/2013/
about the automation:
is there a way to see it measured in time rather than in measures ?
And, is there a way to position an action in a time position far from the beginning ? like scrolling the time frame ?
thank you
> is there a way to see it measured in time rather than in measures ?
No. But if you set the time signature/tempo appropriately then it's not too hard to count.
>And, is there a way to position an action in a time position far from the beginning ? like scrolling the time frame ?
Use the > arrow on the scroll bar to scroll, or create the item and drag it to where you want it and the window will auto-scroll.
