Sound file browser

Hi fellow mulchers,

i thought that something similar to the patch browser but intended to be used with soundfiles (to drag and drop them on contraptions) could be very usefull for live performances.
I know we can achieve something similar using regular win explorer windows but I think it would really ease the process if this could be achieved directly in AM. I personally don't like much having to juggle with windows when I "live" :)

I imagine that merging it with the contraptions browser might be problematic but I don't think making a independent one that could be hidden if not used (as can all windows now) would be that hard. But maybe I am wrong on that ;)

Any thought ?

cheers

I think that could work quite well integrated as part of the patcher browser.

In the meantime, check out Azertopia's AZBrowser, really handy plugin for the task:

Thanks you very much I'll check this.

I think it could well integrate with the browser too . But maybe the way it's coded doesn't allow it (I don't know I'm not really versed into programing) that's why I suggested an independant one.

Anyway, maybe Ross will enlight us when he's around.

cheers

Yeah I think its a good idea. I always wanted to have a pro-tools region list type thing so you could also use sub-regions of files, not just the whole file (useful for loop trimming and drums etc) but I havn't got around to it.

I guess a simple file browser would be a lot easier to implement, and still pretty useful. I'm imagining a tree which lists all the Hard Drives on your system and also allows you to add additional top level shortcuts to other folders on your system -- then you can open the tree and navigate everything inside them. Being able to preview individual files as you go would be nice too. Does that sound like the kind of thing you have in mind?

At this stage I'm not sure how hard it would be to add.

...then you can open the tree and navigate everything inside them.

Will this include navigating inside the XML tree of a mulch patch and loading parts of it, like single contraptions, presets or automations? This would be awesome...
