Hi Ross,
It's very easy to create evoloving music with AM but I feel it would be really handy to have a dramatic switch from one scene to another. I'm envisaging a number of pages, each containing completely different contraptions etc so that it's possible to move from one to the other, preferrably with the ability to have both on the go at the same time. This would confer a number of advantages:
It allows DJ style crossfading from track to track, forwards or backwards.
It makes for a relatively uncluttered patcher pane.
It would allow for ABA, verse chorus etc style musical structures, (or with more pages, ABC type).
Since the pages would be discrete entities, it would be easy to create pages with a "different head" i.e. highly atmospheric to rhythmical, synthetic to organic etc.
If there were a function to enable or disable the pages, this could free up valuable cpu power.
I'm currently opening 2 instances of AM to chieve this sort of thing and mving between 2 pieces of AM.
What do you think?
Thanks
Gareth
Yeah. I dig this kinda idea. I wouldn't be looking for something incredibly complicated, but just something simple so I can go back and forward between different projects and audiomulch sets without stopping, and loading up a new document. The document switcher is cool, but it would be good if there was something available to move in and out of different projects a bit smoother, instead of having to stop and start again.
cool!
I have no problem with this idea, implementing it on the other hand :)
What I usually do for performance of this kind is paste multiple documents into one big patch, side by side, with crossfaders to fade between the different patches. You can disconnect subpatches to save CPU. But it is not ideal, I agree.
What I would like to do is nest sub-documents inside a master document, so you could still run some global effects and use AM to crossfade between documents. There are a few big tasks on the list before I consider this big task though.
this is a great idea!
Big +1 from me.
I feel like an idiot, but can you open a document, copy evereything, then open a new document, and paste ??
Not quite what Gareth is asking for -- but I should point out that you can do parameter jump-cuts using the Metasurface. Either by double clicking on different snapshots to switch a lot of parameters at once, or by clicking at different points on the interpolation surface to jump between different settings.
Ross.
Ross,
Is it possible to run two copies of Mulch on Mac OSX?

Yes, you have to make a second copy of the App and run that.
