Either I did not found them yet or these are not present.
I don't know how many remember the old Cool Edit (aka Adobe Audition) software. One of the coolest thing for me (removed in newest version by adobe) was there the tone generator. Okay, here is my understandong of useful adaptation.
1. Tone generator parameters:
- signal is stereo (2 output nodes)
- frequency parameter
- phase difference between channels parameter (very useful when playing with phase versus horizontal/spatial localization)
- start phase of the entire generation process (useful when combining multiple tones)
- signal type (sin, triangle, square, inv sin, etc.)
- signal filling (for example sinus can be between spike and squared; see cool edit for details)
- DC offset (useful when targeting modulators)
2. AM Modulator:
- is stereo ((2 input nodes for carrier, 2 input nodes for modifier, 2 output nodes)
3. FM Modulator
- is stereo (2 input nodes for carrier, 2 input nodes for "modulation speed" modifier, 2 nodes for "modulation depth", 2 output nodes)
- optionally - "modulation depth" regulated internally
4. Horizontal/Angular modulator.
I don't know, it is a combination of FM modulation. At slow rates of horizontal rotation - it is possible to make a horizontal pendulum (with angle direction/phase - note that this can't be done properly with delay on carrier tone and must be done on modulation modifier, angle width, oscilation speed, doppler).
5. Another cool thing from cool edit - was/is the FFT filter. It allows very exact signal filtering, up to fraction of Hz, and >100dB, and it allows to create extensive filtering envelope.
Thanks!
I agree
BTW Adobe Audition 3.0, thought by many to be the best/most fully featured version, is now avaialble for "free" from Adobe's site, along with the whole of the Adobe CS2 package.
I've long been wanting a more fully featured "oscillator" in Mulch. If I need more than noise or sine, I use either the MDA Test Tone or Russell Borogove's Femme VSTs.
@babaluma
I am not able to find the free Audition 3.0 you are talking about.
any link ?
thanks !
